Acne spoil the beauty of the face or rather make it ugly. Acne produces unsightly spots on the face, neck, chest, back and upper arms. Try these homemade and easy to make masks that helps you in your fight with acne.
Homemade Acne Remedy
- Using Orange peel has been found very effective. Pound the orange peel with water on a piece stone and apply to acne affected areas.

- Cucumber applied over the face, eyes, and neck for fifteen to twenty minutes has been found effective. It is the best tonic for the skin of the face. Its regular use prevents pimples and blackheads.
- Garlic has been used successfully to cure acne. Rub with raw garlic several times a day. Garlic is known to have cured the toughest of acne problem. The external use of garlic helps to clear the skin of spots, pimples and boils. Acne can further be cured by eating three seeds of raw garlic once daily for a month. This purifies the blood stream and ensures basic cleansing of blood keeping acne away.
- Mix 1 tsp fresh coriander powder with a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply on pimples and black heads. Keep overnight and wash off gently the next morning.
- Make a paste of fresh, young curry leaves apply and keep on overnight wash with warm water in the morning. Helps wrinkles to fade away gradually.
- Make a paste of nutmeg (Jaiphal) with raw milk. Apply on pimples and black heads leave on for 20 minutes or overnight. Continue for 10-12 days, till face is clear.
- For dry skin rub a piece of sandalwood on a smooth stone with a few drops of raw milk. Apply the paste procured on affected areas. Keep on for 1 hour. Gently wash.
- For oily skin make a paste of sandalwood and rosewater apply on affected areas, keep for 1 hour and wash off gently.
- Mix 1 tablespoon groundnut oil with 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice to prevent formation of blackheads and pimples .
- Apply fresh mint juice over the face every night for the treatment of pimples, insect stings, eczema, scabies, & other skin infections.
- Ground drumstick pods and leaves and mix mixed with fresh lime juice, and apply on pimples. This is also good for blackheads and dark spots.
- Apply a paste of fresh methi (fenugreek) leaves over the face every night for 10-15 minutes and washed with warm water. This will prevent pimples, blackheads, and wrinkles.
- Mix groundnut oil with an equal amtount of fresh lime juice and apply on face. leave for 10-15 minutes and wash. It may be applied daily to prevent formation of blackheads and pimples.
- Apply juice of raw papaya (including the skin and seed) on swelling pimples.
- Apply fresh lime juice mixed to a glass of boiled milk as a face wash for pimples, blackheads, and cracked skin.
- Mix lime juice and rose water in equal portions. Apply on affected area. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.

- Aloe Vera juice applied twice a day can greatly speed up the healing of acne lesions.
- Another lotion that uses bee propolis extract may also be effective. Mix eight ounces of water and 11 drops of bee propolis extract. One of the acne home remedies which has been proven effective with many people.
- Blend cucumber and make a paste. Apply this as a mask on your face and leave it for 1/2 hour and then rinse. This refreshes your skin and prevents acne.
- Another effective remedy in the area of nutrition that seems to offer new promise of help for acne is zinc. It has shown dramatic results in some cases. Zinc should be taken in therapeutic doses of 50 mg three times a day.
- Ice down the acne before bed, by morning it should be noticeably less swollen. Works best on larger pimples that have not yet formed a head.
- Take vitamin B5 and zinc supplements daily to strengthen the skin's resistance to acne.
- Essential oil face mask for acne: Use a mask base powder, such as fuller's earth or kaolin powder. Use distilled or filtered water to make a paste. Mix 1 heaped teaspoon of base powder to 3 drops of essential oil. Add approximately 2 tablespoons of the water in, to make a fluid yet balanced paste. Essential oils to add in the mask either separately or try smaller amounts together; cypress oil 1 drop, lemon oil 2 drops, sage oil 1 drop.
- A hot Epsom salts bath twice a week is beneficial in all cases of acne. This bath is prepared by adding 1 ½ kg of Epsom salts to 60 litres of water having a temperature of about 37.8° C. The patient should remain in the bath tub for 25-35 minutes till he sweats freely. After the bath, the patient should cool off gradually.
- Warm-water enema - During the initial one week 'all-fruit' diet, a warm-water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels. Hot fomentation should be applied locally to open up the pores and to bring out the waste matter. The affected parts should then be rinsed with cold water.
- Large pores on facial skin can be treated with paste of sandalwood powder with masoor dal.
