Best Homemade natural remedies for Sore Throat
A sore throat is an infection that can be either viral or bacterial. It is most commonly caused by a contagious viral infection (such as the flu, cold or mononucleosis), although more serious throat infections can be caused by a bacterial infection (such as strep, mycoplasma or hemophilus). Bacterial sore throats respond well to antibiotics while viral ones do not.
Homemade Sore Throat Remedy
- Increase your liquid intake and make sure your house is humidified properly.
- Drink a glass of hot water with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and some honey. You'll feel better instantly. You can also drink a chamomile tea with lemon and honey added.
- Gargle with warm salt water (¼ teaspoon salt to ½ cup water) several times a day.
- Cut a lemon into 2 pieces. Take one piece and put some salt and black pepper on it, press with a knife so that salt-pepper penetrate into the lime. Put the lemon on heat to make it warm. Slowly lick this lemon squeezing it until no juice remains. Do it 2-3 times a day.
- Eat garlic. Garlic is an anti-septic and good for many conditions.
- Chives and scallions are helpful for a soar throat when simmered in water for 5 minutes. Drink as a tea.
- Make a paste of 2-3 cloves with 1-2 cloves of garlic. Mix with 1 cup of honey. Have 1 tsp 3 times a day.
- Eat betel leaves with liquorice (mulathi) twice or thrice a day. It serves as an excellent home remedy for sore throat.
- In 1 cup of warm milk, add a pinch of turmeric powder. Drink the milk before going to bed.
- Take 1 whole onion and boil it with some water. Thereafter, mash it and add some butter, salt and pepper to it. Now eat this mixture.
- Whisky and warm water To be gar gled with then drunk. Many people prefer to forego the water.
