Choosing Best Makeup Concealer

  • Creams – Creams Concealer thicker than liquid but thinner than a stick these are good for under the eyes.  They resist creasing better than liquid.  Creams are good for those of you with dry skin.  They offer good coverage with moisture.
  • Liquids – Liquids Concealer are easier to apply.  This type is best for those with lighter skin.  They deliver a sheer coverage. They look best when dried.

HOW TO APPLY CONCEALERS

Applying concealers, using the right makeup techniques is important. Concealers are of a denser composition than regular foundations and are generally available in sticks, tubes, pots, and creams. Concealers can be used to cover blemishes, dark spots, ruddy areas, marks, veins, freckles or under eye circles.

Step 1 - Prep your face with an eye cream or gel.  Use a moisturizer on the rest of your face.  Give them a couple of minutes to absorb.  Blot gently with a tissue to make sure the area is dry.

Step2 - Apply a little concealer with your fingertips. (Use your ring finger for this. It is weaker so you will use less pressure on your delicate skin.) Apply lightly at first.  If you decide you need more, you can do so.  You know you have the right amount when it blends into your skin.  Be very gentle around your eyes.  The skin in this area is thin and delicate.

Step 3 - Some pros think you get better results applying concealer using a synthetic makeup brush to apply concealer. The brush helps achieve a smooth finish.

Step 4 - Cover any other blemishes using a small circular motion.

Step 5- Apply your foundation next and blend it with your concealer.

Step 6 - After applying the concealer apply a thin layer of loose powder over it to lock it in.

Concealer Make up Tips

  • Test concealer on your face just as you would foundation.  Skin tone on your hand or wrist may be different than on your face.
  • Don’t choose the lightest color concealer.  Choose one that is one or two shades lighter than your skin.
  • Apply concealer sparingly. Too thick might conceal better, but it will also be too noticeable.
  • Concealer helps cover up acne.  Use a yellow-based concealer to help hide the redness associated with acne.
