Types of makeup powders

There are two type of makeup powder

  • Loose powder
  • Pressed powder
Loose powder - Loose powder has a light, airy consistency and is preferred by professional make-up artists because it's less likely to streak on the skin. This type of powder gives your face a very smooth, matt look and lasts longer than pressed powders.

Pressed powder - Pressed powders are easy to carry around so they are good for touching up your makeup during the day. Most compact powders come with a sponge but you will get a better finish if you apply it using a powder brush.

How to apply Makeup Powder? Applying Makeup Powder

  • Release powder into the top section of the container by tipping the container and gently tapping the bottom.
  • Do not apply too much powder at once. Better to blot oil later in the day than have a cakey, overdone look to your face.
  • Dust your face with powder. Stroke your face gently to cover all areas evenly.
  • Dip the brush in the powder and tap it to shake off loose powder. Then brush the powder evenly over your face in downward strokes.
  • Take a large fluffy brush or a powder puff and dip it into the powder. Tap the tool lightly over the container to remove any excess.
