Fungal Rash is caused due to the overgrowth of various germs that may cause fungal infections, resulting in fungal skin rash. Fungal rash is not contagious as well not it is serious if proper precautions are taken. However, deep infections caused by the fungal rashes could cause serious problems.

Types of Fungal Rashes

There are different types of fungal rashes, named after the infected area of the body. We have listed below some skin rash types, which are most common amongst them.

  • Athlete's foot (Tinea pedis)
  • Jock itch (Tinea Cruris)
  • Nail infections (Onychomycosis)
  • Pityriasis versicolor
  • Ringworm on the body (Tinea Corporis)

  • Thrush (Candida Albicans)

Causes of Fungal Rashes

Weak immune system caused due to HIV infection and cancer, diabetes are causes of fungal rashes. Cut of the skin and moist skin also develop fungal rashes. Persons who are unable to maintain toileting, person who have a loss of mobility, person who is overnight has increased the chances of fungal rashes.

Symptoms of Fungal Rashes

The symptom of skin rash depends on the part of the body part infected and the type of fungus causing the infection. Also, the skin rashes appear in a variety of types, some itchy, some scaly, and some dry and itchy.

Fungal rashes on the scalp could result in hair loss. However, these rashes should not be confused with other skin infections like psoriasis, eczema, etc.

Treatment of Fungal Rashes

There are many types of treatment for reducing the fungal rashes. The type of treatment depends on the type of fungal rashes. Topical antibiotics treatment and anti-fungal tablets are very effective to reduce the fungal rashes from the body. One can also apply anti-fungal creams over the infected area for a few days for getting amazing results.

Preventions of Fungal Rashes

  • Daily change your socks and tights.
  • Daily wear comfortable shoes.
  • Avoid the perfumed soap.
  • Synthetic fibres that wick the sweat away from the body may be preferable for sportspeople.
  • Person with diabetics should need to control their blood sugar.
  • Let the skin dry carefully.
  • Sharing combs, hair brushes and towels encourages fungal rash.
  • Use products containing dimethicone , petrolatum and zinc oxide to prevent the fungal rash.
